One of my girlfriends set up a spa day for several of her friends, and thank goodness and I was included. On Sunday, the five of us descended upon the East Palo Alto Four Seasons, where we each had an hour-long spa treatment scheduled. When I arrived, the spa hostess showed me to the outdoor upper deck, where there was a pool heated to 85 degrees year-round, and a Jacuzzi. During the summer months, the spa offers poolside food and drink service.
She then showed me the eucalyptus steam room and the rain shower room. All-day access to the amenities is included with the purchase of any 60-minute or longer treatment. Finally, she dropped me off in a swanky locker room where a plush robe and slippers were waiting for me. I undressed, put on the robe, and went to the Ladies Lounge, the waiting area for the spa treatments. The Ladies Lounge is furnished with chaise lounge chairs, and there are teas and fruit-infused waters to choose from. I grabbed a glass of water and waited for my treatment. I had the 60-minute Silicon Valley Massage. I asked for it to be a deep tissue massage and I got what I asked for. It was AMAZING!! After my massage, I changed into my bikini and sat in the eucalyptus steam room for about 10 minutes before heading to brunch at the on-site restaurant.
But the point of this post isn’t to brag about my awesome spa day. It’s to remind you (and me) how important it is to take care of yourself. You work hard every day. You deserve a break. Take it! I would have never planned a day of relaxation on my own. But why not? I need to change that. Are you treating yourself as well as you should?
