I’m so happy to finally be HOME for awhile!! WOOHOO!! No more weeklong trips scheduled for my day job. Hopefully none sneak up on me. I’m knocking on wood with crossed fingers. I’m definitely a home body. I guess that’s the Cancer girl in me, although I’m on the cusp and totally claim Gemini. I like to nest and enjoy my home space. I always get ideas to improve on my home space.
My house in L.A. had a Prince gallery wall going down the hallway and I’ve wanted to recreate that in my house here in the Bay Area, but in a place where I can fully enjoy it, not just in passing on my way to the bathroom a couple of times a day. So I finally hung up the gallery wall in my home studio where I can look at it several times a day. Hell, I can gaze at it all day long if I feel like it.
Anyway, now that I’m home I’ve also been getting back into my fashion headspace. Yesterday I watched the documentary “Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer.” It was inspiring because he, like so many other successful people, was told he wasn’t creative enough when he was just starting out. He applied to the Fashion Institute of Technology and was denied admission.
I like those kinds of stories. They reinforce to me that you have to forge your own path, especially in the creative fields. No matter how many people out there don’t like what you do, there are so many people out there who will like it. It’s all about finding my people. They’re out there!
